"Kellogg, like other cereal manufacturers, realized that he was producing a basically generic product and the only difference between him and the competition was what could be instilled in the public’s mind by advertising. An effective tool of such thinking is the premium—and a proliferation of booklets, dolls and other lures to attract and hold consumer loyalty followed. All of this is cause for today’s collectors to rejoice because these premiums have become a hobby all of their own. Such advertising items and ephemera are now today’s highly prized and greatly enjoyed acquisitions. From the very beginning, the company distributed many different health booklets. A good example of this is “The Modern Figure”, released in 1932 and reprinted for several years afterward. These pamphlets, usually free, strongly advocated a sensible approach to health, including proper eating habits. Naturally, eating Kellogg’s cereals came highly recommended! .". Very Good .

Nothing on the market met our needs, and after a conference with Father Bob and Doris Sheffer it was proposed to the membership that we make a Fiber Book of our own. It was decided that each fiber would have a page explaining what the fiber was, how it was packaged and what colors were available. In addition, we wanted to know if the color matched that of another product, what size mesh was most appropriate, the number of plys needed, needle size, stitchery tips and any other general information which would make stitching more effective." ; Signed by Author. New York, NY: Simon & Schuster, 1973. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Hardcover. ISBN: 0671215566. B&W Illustrations; This book is in Near Fine condition and has a Very Good- dust jacket. The spine and spine joints of the dust jacket have noticeable toning and spots of grease pencil marks. "Potpourri has been used in rooms since ancient times, in a variety of ways, including just scattering it on the floor. In early 17th-century France, fresh herbs and flowers were gathered—beginning in spring and continuing throughout the summer. The herbs were left for a day or two to become limp, then layered with coarse sea salt. The aging mixture was stirred occasionally as layers were added to it. Often the mixture would ferment or even mold as the summer went by. In fall, spices would be added to the unsightly grey mix until a pleasant fragrance was achieved. Then, scent preserving fixatives (see below) were added. The finished potpourri was set out in special pots with perforated lids to perfume rooms." (from Wikipedia). HOBSON, ANTHONY, Fabric Printing By the Bedafin 2001 Process (Dryad Leaflet No. 149)
HOBSON, ANTHONY
Fabric Printing By the Bedafin 2001 Process (Dryad Leaflet No. 149)
Leicester, England: Dryad Handicrafts, 1954. Trade Edition. Stapled wraps. B&W Illustrations; This is a trade paperback booklet with self covers and a stapled spine. The covers have some wrinkling and tidemarking. The text pages are clean and bright. During the First World War, the Dryad Works provided a Leicester hospital with off-cuts of cane for basket-making by wounded soldiers. There was a growing demand for cane and other craft materials for use in occupational therapy and in schools. Peach set up another offshoot of his business, Dryad Handicrafts, to supply this demand. He was convinced of the importance of craftwork in education but only if standards were high. He wanted to encourage the teaching of handicrafts in schools and elsewhere and to try and raise standards of amateur work by selling good quality materials and tools selected by professional makers. Under Peach’s direction, Dryad Handicrafts developed a network of resources including a range of well-designed and informative leaflets written by practising makers and teachers.
